Why It Is Okay To Steal From Bars And Nightclubs

Let me start this with a little story of what happened to me one time at a bar.

It was the World Cup and me and 5 other friends were waiting for the Fifa Fan Fest to start. We decided to go to a bar to pass the next 3 hours before the game. Four of us ordered pints of Erdinger, and when we got our pints I noticed that my glass was slightly different. I asked the bartender, and he told me that "It's a special World Cup Edition Glass"...I couldn't believe how lucky I was. It was the best glass I had seen in my life!

Of course, then we drank way too much; and the next morning when I woke up, I found something in my bag...Turns out that in my excitement from the football, I had taken away my very own trophy: the glass from the bar.

These situations happen all the time at bars and nightclubs. Awesome glasses get stolen because, well, let's face it...they're so awesome that the bar shouldn't expect them to not be taken. But when it comes down to it, the million dollar question is this: is stealing the most amazing glass you have ever seen a do or a don't in bars and nightclubs?

On the plus side, you get a keepsake for your evening. While we all love telling stories about our nights out, the best stories come with physical proof: the scars, bruises, and photos are what truly makes the story memorable. The same way you purchase a souvenir after a really great experience, this glass will be a souvenir from your really great night. And if your night wasn't that great, well, it will be a way to make a dull night fun.

Also, those bars and nightclubs make too much money anyway from their drinks (Honestly, $19 for a cocktail?). This may be the Asian/Poor-uni-student side of me coming out, but I believe that we need to get our money back somehow...and finding a new glass to drink our coffee or tea is always great.

However, if you do choose to take a glass, you must live with the knowledge that you may never be able to return to that place in case someone saw you take it. Not going back is far less painful than the embarrassment of potentially getting turned away for your minor theft...and if you really love the bar or nightclub, then this quickly becomes a tragedy.

And if the cool glasses keep getting stolen, the bar or nightclub may just make a decision not to purchase them anymore. What's the point if they keep going missing?

Because of this, it's probably best to only do it at a bar or nightclub that you don't think you will be going back to for a long time...and only after you've knocked back a couple of drinks. But if it really is the most awesome glass in the world"

It's probably worth it.
