Conscious competence We know what we want to do and now we can do it. But at this stage we have to concentrate and think about every step we take.

But we persevere. And then something amazing happens. Over time the act of walking moves from being a conscious activity to lodge itself in our subconscious mind and become a subconscious behaviour. And at this point walking becomes as natural to us as breathing, we never think about it, it doesn't concern us, we just do it!
