The "Costa Blanca" meaning "White Coast" has some the finest scenery to be found on the Mediterranean coast of Spain. Yes there are some places that are large, bustling holiday towns, but there are also the unexpectedly different of which Javea is one of them. Many think that Javea is probably the nicest resort on the whole coast and hence a visit is normally the start of most people's love affair with this area.

Javea - the charming town of Javea ( or Xabia in the local Valenciano language) lies between the two headlands of San Antonio and La Nao, mid-way between Valencia and Alicante. There are three distinct parts. The Old Town with its quaint narrow streets and ancient squares; a fascinating Port (overlooked by a row of ancient, now abandoned windmills) which is a thriving fishing port plus marina. Then there is the Arenal which is the Town's main, safe, sheltered, sandy beach area. Watching over these areas is the spectacular Montgo mountain, shaped like an elephant which changes colour dramatically in the different lights and weathers. Quiet, scenically both beautiful and awe inspiring and yet extremely convenient for exploring the whole region.

Nearby, still in Javea, there are lovely small unspoilt coves and beaches such as Grenadella and also Portichol with its very pretty island and bay.

Moving inland of Javea, within a very short drive, are countless small towns and villages almost untouched by modern life. The scenery is just stunning and the people so welcoming. The food is unbelievably good and affordable. We believe this area to be Spain's best kept secret!

A further bonus is Javea's climate which the World Health Organisation once described as near perfect with its mild/warm year-round temperatures.

There is plenty to do too. Walking, golf, scuba diving, swimming and sun bathing are the obvious. But there are plenty of others. Fiestas are everywhere. Every town will have at least one fiesta - so you can be almost certain to experience one during your stay. The ancient and traditional costumes, the bands, the noise and spectacle of the fireworks are heart stopping! Try and see a Moors and Christians battle re-enactment - unforgettable.

The world is changing rapidly and Javea is no exception. Ifyou don't know Javea come and see it now before it changes too much. If you already know Javea then do come back - you will remember it's a great place to be.

Javea is fairly easy to get to from either Alicante or Valencia airports (motorway nearly all the way and journey times about 1 hours from either airport). Car hire and fuel costs are generally cheaper than the UK and is a desirable option to make the most of your holiday. Flights from most UK airports to Alicante are plentiful. All air prices have become very much more reasonable with quite a number of scheduled as well as charter flights offering very keen prices. Shop around for the bargains - the earlier you book normally the better deal you will get.
