Why Kerala Known As Gods Own Country

There are many reasons for Kerala to be known as Gods own country

. The first and foremost is that in legends this strip of land is carved out of the sea by Lord Vishnu. We also have geological evidences to prove that the strip of land has once upon a time been under water.

The second reason is the climate condition; abundance of rain is there both due to the south-west monsoon and north-east monsoon. There is moderate climate expect for one or two months in a year and also the green canopy prevailing in our area throughout. One more reason is the variety of spices we have and also different types of nuts grown in Kerala and variety of perfumes produced. Spices such as pepper, small cardamom, dry ginger, cloves and nuts like cashew, coco, nutmeg and also perfumery plants like Vanilla.

Kerala also have varieties of tourists attractions such as natural ports, backwaters, serene beaches, excellent hill resorts, tea gardens, coffee plantations, breath taking waterfalls, wildlife and bird sanctuaries, and varieties of other places like Tiger Trails through Western Ghats. Above all, the National Geographic Channel in its survey has declared Kerala to be one of the 50 destinations of the world a tourists must visit in his/her lifetime. The enchanting beauty of the sea beaches, backwaters, small and large lakes and the green canopy of the coconut groves can give us a breath taking view especially when someone is landing at the Kochi international airport which itself has many uniqueness such as the first international airport funded by private participation by the public. A backwater cruise towards any of the holiday resorts in and around Kerala and the visit of many historically important places can make a tourists come again and again to this place. There are historical evidences to prove that Jews were there in Kochi and surrounding areas even before Christ. Similarly, the oldest Jewish synagogue was built at a place called Mattancherry in Kochi dating back to the 8th century and even today these historical monuments are a testimony to the origin of such a cosmopolitan culture.

Finally, it is the people of Kerala who deserves to be called as Gods Own people because of the active, outdoor loving, adventurous and at the same time people willing to get adjusted to the changing scenarios and realities of life. We can find Malayalies i.e., Keralites spread all over because of their willingness to get well in life and their adaptability towards changing environment.
