Why Light And Flos Are So Closely Linked

The part of the body that is sensitive to light

, as we know, is the eye. For the eye to function as a unique organ, it requires the necessary ingredient by the means of which it works. It is clear therefore, that, without light, this essential organ cannot perform the function it is there to perform. Nature has placed the two together to work harmoniously and inseparably. This vividly elucidates the significance of light. Since nature has designed our world such that twelve hours out of twenty four is darkness, while the remaining twelve hours is spent in daylight, it then follows that we have a need to fulfill. That is to provide light for the remaining twelve hours that nature has left us in darkness. It is in an attempt to satisfy this need that some creative geniuses from around the world sprang to contribute their quota towards this noble goal. Outstanding among them is the Company called Flos.

Flos was founded in 1962 in Merano, Italia, by Dino Gavina and Cesare Cassina. Flos design and manufacture outstanding light fittings for many different types of applications. Private residences, offices, public buildings, sports centers etc. There is a strong emphasis on innovation and design with Flos products and they use a design team that is second to none! Their products are also of the highest quality and are made with due care and attention by master craftsmen.

Arco Model - Arco model was designed by two highly talented brothers with international reputations, Achille Castiglioni and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni in 1962. This model consists of a variety of designs that fit perfectly in all the various locations mentioned above. Their main distinguishing features are retained in the designs to fit in these locations; however they vary in dimension, shape and other professional details. A good example of this is the Arco Floor Lamp designed specifically for the floor. Glo ball: Glo ball is a model designed by another professional of international recognition, Jasper Morrison. The Glo Ball is also produced in varying designs, shapes and dimensions to fit in to different applications.

Miss k: This model is designed by Philippe Starck. Just like other models, it equally consists of different designs suitable to be fitted in the ceiling, floor, wall, table, suspension and outdoor.

Some other well known models include, Taraxacum, Archimoon and Spun Light. All the models and designs mentioned above and many more are products that Flos designed and manufacture. Considering the wide range of products that Flos produces, it is clear that this company has seen it all. One need not wonder why the company enjoys international patronage, recognition and reputation. When you look at some of the amazing lamps created by Flos you can understand why they have won numerous awards over the years.
