Why Most Animal Species Of The World Are Becoming Extinct.
The list of Animals that have become extinct in the last two centuries is steadily increasing
. The Panda family, Tigers, River Dolphins, The Polar Bear, Bald Eagle, Many species of Whales, Monk Seals and a number of Bird verities are on the verge of being totally wiped out. Many of these species are feared, not to make it to the end of this century.
The cause of animal extinction is mainly due to the destruction of native animal habitats. As cities and towns are becoming bigger by the day, and a steady increase in human population, is in turn causing the destruction of the surrounding natural habitats like forests and reserves. Pollution also plays a huge role in animals becoming endangered.
There are less than 4500 tigers left in the wild and the number is decreasing at a frightening rate due to illegal poaching in Asia. World Animal Welfare Organizations are taking strong steps in illegal poaching by implementing strong laws like life imprisonment and by paying huge fines. The Black Rhinos in central Asia are the recent addition to the endangered species list.
The Planet Earth is constantly evolving; this gradual and natural change that is happening to the planet does not do much damage to the ecology, as animals like the Dinosaurs, Woolly Mammoth and The Saber Tooth Tiger have become extinct in the past. But the destruction of these species happened due to natural casus. In this present age Animals are becoming extinct mainly, because loss of habitat due to human population and pollution.
Clearing of tress or deforestation is taking place on a grand scale, leaving no room for the animals of that ecology. Animals then enter towns and cities surrounding their habitat, most of them are relocated to new areas, and these animals find it difficult to adapt and flourish in their new surroundings. Some of these animals end up in the zoo, where captive breeding is the answer for endangered species.
Whale Wars is a program about 40 or so people on a mission to bring the Japanese Whaling industry to an end. This is an amazing show where these animal conservatives wage war on Japanese whaling vessels; they normally intercept the Whale and the Whaling vessel, which would give the whale enough time to get away from the range of the deadly whale
Harpoons. This show is aired on Animal Planet for the past four seasons and is a huge hit. Animal Planet has many such taught provoking shows and is a standard channel with Buyatt cable packages.
Another Important factor that contributes to animal extinction of a particular geography is the introduction of new animal species in that geographical location. One very good example of this is the cat named Tibbles, which ate the entire islands bird population because these birds were flightless. These birds were called Stephens island Wern. The cat does not belong to this geographical location, and the birds evolved flightless due to lack of natural predators on the island. Introduction of a new species into the normal food cycle would bring about catastrophically changes to the ecology in general.
It is high time everybody takes responsibility at conserving Mother Nature and whats left of it. Steps like turning huge forest areas into wildlife reserves, deforestation, pollution of the lakes, rivers and the sea has to stop. Industrial waste which contains lots of toxic substances has to be recycled and made harmless. These are few minor details that can be followed to ensure that at least some of these animals make it out of extinction.
