Nyjer seeds are first sterilized in order to keep germs away from them just like ordinary wild bird seed. However, thistle sacks are very much susceptible to damage than regular plastic- or metal-made thistle feeders. Thistle or nyjer seeds also require particular handling techniques. This would cost you even more once this happens. So why do you need to buy this type of bird feeds when you can choose other cheaper versions? Basically, the answer to that is simple. Since you love wild birds so much, then you would do anything to keep them happy by providing them their best needs. Basically, this is the mindset of thistle bird feeders. If it is needed to shell out a bit for the sake of birds then so it will be. The reason for this also is that these types of bird seeds are nutritious for finches and other wild birds.

Also, it is incomparable once you see these colorful birds gathered up to eat. Who would ever think that you can see these kinds of species up close? If you want these birds to come regularly, then you need to satisfy them with a higher form of bird seeds. Indeed, thistle bird feeders are an investment.
