Why Routine Check-up Is Not Covered In Pet Insurance

The decision to have a canine or feline family member is long-term

. When you become a fur-parent, its your duty to provide and care for your pets health and well-being. Like any other family member, pet also can fall sick unexpectedly or be involved in an unfortunate accident. As a fur-parent, such situations are obviously emotionally distressing.

What can increase the emotional distress multi-fold is not having pet insurance. Having a pet that is not insured means a constant risk of having to deal with an unexpected situation that can pinch your finances while you are already in emotional distress!

In other words, the role of pet insurance is to protect you from financial burden arising from an unexpected or sudden circumstance. The word unexpected is important here because those are the kind of situations people are not ready for. When you know about an upcoming bill you have to pay, that is not something that will surprise you. You have the time and chance to arrange for the money you owe.

This is the primary reason pet insurances dont cover routine vet check-ups of your pet. To provide cover for expenditures that are inevitable will increase the premium tremendously for the pet owners and most people will not even be able to afford having their pets insured. This will naturally result in increase in the number of unprotected pets and more owners having to go through the unimaginable distress of making the impossible decision in case they cant afford an expensive life-saving treatment for their pet.

So, to keep the premiums at an affordable level, pet insurance covers the most important risks, that really have the potential of putting the fur-kids and their fur-parents in trouble like accidents and illnesses.

The other important thing to keep in mind is that while pet insurance can definitely cover you for the financial aspect of the circumstance, it cannot take away the physical and emotional distress that the pet and yourself are going through. So it is your duty to take your pets regularly for their routine checks, vaccinations or other routine procedures to prevent illnesses. Pet insurance companies will also expect you to be responsible enough to take all such measures to the best of your capacity.

Having a healthy and happy pet will allow you to make the best of the thrills and joys of your pets companionship.
