After several years of service though, most hardwood floors begin to look like they could do with a bit of help and the homeowners thoughts turn to having their hardwood floors sanded and refinished. At this point they turn to Google, or even that old standby the Yellow Pages to find someone to do the job for them. Then they see an advertisement for a place that rents sanders and another thought occurs; why not do it myself?

At first that sounds like a wonderful idea,a great way to save a few bucks. There are though quite a number of very good reasons why sanding and refinishing a hardwood floor is not a good project for the DIY enthusiast, however accomplished they may feel they are in the home repair department.

Then there is the problem with the operator of the sanding machine. The DIY enthusiast may think that after watching a few how to videos they know all they need to about sanding and refinishing a hardwood floor that is not the case. Professional flooring companies make their new employees train for months before they are even allowed near a client's precious hardwood floors so an afternoon on YouTube is hardly comparable experience.

Most people like to save money, but when it is time to sand and refinish your hardwood floor hiring a professional simply makes sense. Your hardwood floors are an investment that deserves to be protected and perhaps even pampered. In return they will add to the charm, look and value of your home for many years to come.
