Why Should I Get a Security Alarm System?

Why Should I Get a Security Alarm System?

In the last year there have been over 3500 burglaries in the borough of Enfield (February 2010-2011)2601 of them were residential. And across London, there were over 60,000 reported residential burglaries. These figures indicate that there is a need to protect our homes and our families. A break-in can lead to stolen priceless possessions, financial loss, emotional distress and it is an invasion of our privacy. Naturally we want to protect ourselves and we should invest in a security alarm system to protect what we work hard for.

Security alarm systems can be easily installed by a professional who can then adapt an alarm system that works for you and fits your lifestyle. For instance you can have an alarm that is designed to notify you by text message if a condition at your home has occurred.

We often believe that our lives will not be affected by crime, but unfortunately that is not always the case, but we can protect ourselves in our homes, and installing a security alarm is an important step in doing so.

What different intruder alarms are available?

Audible Alarms

Audible alarm systems are stand alone systems that are not connected to an ARC (Alarm Receiving Centre). If an alarm condition does occur then the sounders fitted internally or externally will sound. Audible systems can be connected to your mobile phone to notify you when an alarm condition has occurred.

Monitored Alarms

Monitored alarm systems are connected to an ARC. The systems monitor the signals that your alarm sends to them. Signals can be sent through your phone line or by a wireless link to the ARC. Most alarm panels used have a digital communicator built in to the circuit board ready to; all it needs is the phone line to be connected. There are also dual path signalling systems

Digital Communicator

A digital communicator works simply by being connected to a BT phone line or adsl line. The communicator will send a signal down the phone line to the ARC in the event of your intruder alarm being activated. The only negative with a digital communicator is if the phone line is cut then the Intruder Alarm can not communicate.

Dual Path Signalling

The DualCom System is a totally integrated dual path signalling system using a radio path as its primary signalling route and a land line as a secondary route. This combination will ensure that your alarm signal can be transmitted despite any deliberate or accidental failure of either path.
