In recent years it has become clear that there are many benefits to learning how to play an instrument
. Not only do people who play instruments have a higher sense of self-esteem for having accomplished this task, but they also tend to excel in other areas of life. Studies show that high school music students tend to have a higher GPA than students who are not involved in the music program and those who play an instrument are more likely to do well on tests, particularly in writing. Learning to play an instrument is an important skill that any child could benefit from having, but there are also benefits for adults. If you would like to become a musician, consider taking lessons to learn to play the guitar and you will see for yourself what kind of changes come about in your life.
As you learn how to play the guitar you may find that some of your other skills are being developed as well. You may experience an improvement in hand-eye coordination as you practice the positions for individual notes and chords.
