Why Should You Use Lightbars on Your Vehicle?
You may have seen people driving down the street with a set of lightbars on their vehicle and wondered, "Why do they have those lightbars installed?" There is a good chance that they were first responders, and that those lights were there to protect them from the dangers that are presented to them on a daily basis. Here are some of the main reasons why you should have lights on your vehicle if you are a first responder.
The main reason people use lightbars on their response vehicle is because of safety, plain and simple. When you are rushing down the road to the scene of an accident, the last thing you want is someone to pull in front of you or impede your progress because they didn't see you coming. When people see flashing lightbars, they instantly know that someone is trying to get to an emergency, and they are usually pretty good about yielding.
When you are stopped at the scene of an emergency, the last thing you want is to get hit by a passing car. Having your lightbars on will help avoid this as much as possible. Most emergency responders think they are safe once they reach the scene, but this is just not the case. When your car is parked on the side of the road with it's lightbars turned off, there is a very good chance that it could get hit and you could incur some damage. Buy some lights and make sure they are on. If people can see you, there is a smaller chance they will hit you.
Depending on where you park your car, it can be difficult to find your car. But, if you are the only car around with lightbars on it, it will be pretty easy to spot from a distance. Making your car easy to find is not a reason enough by itself to get some lightbars installed on your car, but it is an added benefit that should not be ignored. As a side note, thieves are also less likely to try and steal a car with emergency lights on it, so this is one other benefit that should not be ignored.
Finally, in most cases, lightbars offer increased respect on the road. This could be for a number of potential reasons. First off, when people see lightbars, the first thing they think of is a police officer. You never see people hassling police officers on the road, do you? Secondly, when other people see that you are a first responder, they usually show you a certain level of respect because of what you are doing for the community. Either way, you will get more respect on the road, and that is always a good thing.
There are so many reasons why you should install lightbars on your response vehicle. They make you safer, they make you visible to traffic, they make it easier to find your car, and they allow you to garner increased respect on the road. What more could you ask for? If you are an emergency responder, get a pair of lightbars installed on your car today!
