Why Shred?

So you are seating at your desk, day in and day out, looking past the stack of papers. Everyday it bothers you more and more until you finally decide to get organize. If you are like me you weren't sure where to start. I'm going to write about some ways to get organize and have your desk more zen-like.

First if you do not already have a filing system, implement one as you go. You need a in box, out box, dump box (throw documents into it, until you can sort through it, and a document shredding box. Some documents you might want to consider shredding are old financial statements, old employ applications, utility bills, etc. Be sure you have a folder for every client, person and vendor you conduct business with.

Now to jump in and go through that massive pile of papers and documents on your desk. Go through each document, deciding which box or folder it should go into. If it is junk, throw it in the paper shredder pile. And when you get done sorting all of the papers on your desk be sure to shred all of the documents in the shredding box.

If the paper does not have much sensitive information on it, you might can get by with using a strip cut paper shredder; however if it does contain highly important information you should use a cross cut shredder. Cross cut paper shredder is more secure than a strip cut shredder because it shreds the paper into smaller pieces.

By using these tips, you can manage that paper pile on your desk, and get it nice and tidy. Keep using this system, every day and you will stay organized. A good filing and paper shredding routine is vital to any office and will help you tremendously. If you see yourself getting lazy again, or unorganized, remember the stress that having piles of papers have on you. That should be motivation enough to keep you filing and shredding.

Another freebie, if you don't need a whole piece of paper just use post it notes.
