Why Sig 226 Pistol - An Overview?

. The company Sig Sauer was established way back in 1985 and since then it has created a niche for itself in the market for firearms, especially handguns, rifles, machine guns, pistols, carbines, etc. The sig 226 is what we know as, a service pistol and has the same design as the Sig P220. The Sig P226 pistol was adapted by the American navy seals and since then it has been widely used by the American armed forces.

The P226 belongs to the class of arms created by Sig Sauer which makes up the classic firearms family of the company. This military pistol is capable, and is built to help fire various cartridges like 9 mm, .22 LR guns, .40 S & W, and .357 Sig. The SIG 226 is one of those hand guns or pistols that falls into the ideal category of hand guns due to its features like a recoil operation which is double action, the magazine columns which are dual staggered. Though, originally this gun was developed in a bid to take over the Beretta 92F gun, but then this came out to be more expensive when bought in a package (with the magazines and other accessories) when compared with the Beretta 92F gun.

This pistol can easily fire a cool 10 to 15 rounds once it is fully loaded and thus comes very handy in military operations; cause in such operations one hardly gets time to reload their pistols. The basic advantage of using this class pistol is the barrel locking system which is on the sides and the spring which moves towards the rear once a shot is fired. This weapon comes with a stainless steel body which makes it very durable.

Though, this pistol cannot be used for civilian purpose as this does not come with the manual safety feature, which is mandatory for a firearm to be used in a civil environment. Thus this pistol is best suited for the military environment. This gun has always proven to be a very tactical weapon and the different variants in which this is available helps to add on to that proven fact. Some of its variants come with barrels which are extended in length and some come with grips which are made out of polymer material. This is a pistol which can be used for firing over a long range and as such it makes it one of the greatest classic combat weapon, which provides with all kind of benefits and advantages to its users.
