HID lamps produce light by means of an electric arc between tungsten electrodes mounted inside a translucent quartz or fused alumina tube.

These HID lights offer several advantages. The most important advantage is that they offer light up to thrice as bright as a conventional halogen lamp. This makes traveling in rain and night easier as the view is clearer and brighter. Drivers can also spot an approaching car due to its white bright light. Also, these lamps are durable and long lasting. They can last up to thrice as much as a typical halogen lamp. They save a lot of power; hence are energy and cost effective.

However, these bulbs do not work alone and need several elements from a kit called HID kit. The kit consists of two bulbs, a couple of igniters called ballasts, and wires which are used for installing the kit. HID ballasts act as power savers and control the intensity of emitted light by the HID bulbs. They provide the necessary voltage to initially strike the HID bulbs.

Color Temperature shows the hue of light source and is measured in Degrees Kelvin. The higher the color temperature, the dimmer will be the light. HID conversion kits are an excellent option for vehicles that do not have genuine HID kits. HID conversion kits improve the light emitted by the headlamps to almost three times as a conventional halogen lamp. HID conversion kits are easy plug-and-play devices.
