Why Valet Parking Is The Most Convenient Airport Parking
Over the years Ive probably used every conceivable type of airport parking available: on-airport
, off-airport, short-stay, long-stay and once even managed to park for free in a staff car park, so Ive plenty of experience of the ins and outs, advantages and disadvantages of airport parking.
So, based on my experiences, what type of airport parking would I recommend? Well, without a doubt, it would be meet and greet parking. Valet, or meet and greet if you prefer, has seen an increase in popularity over the years which is understandable once youve tried it. It was once regarded as a high-end travel extra, but these days its often not much more expensive than regular airport parking and it has to be the most convenient and definitely the most time-efficient type of airport parking available just as efficient as being dropped at the airport by a taxi.
So what makes valet meet and greet parking so convenient and who is it especially suited to?
Parents travelling with babies and small children
When it comes to travelling with young children its always advisable to go for the most convenient parking option available. Booking meet and greet parking lets you drive right up to the airport terminal in your own car with the children strapped into their own car seats, unload your luggage and children, give your keys to an awaiting driver and just walk into the terminal building.
The convenience doesnt stop at the out-bound stage of your journey, its still there when your plane lands and is just as important. Imagine your journey from your childrens point of view: theyve had to sit still and remain quiet for the entire flight, then theyve got the long walk to baggage reclaim, theyre told to standstill and wait for your suitcases and then another long walk just to get out of the terminal. If you have booked off-site airport parking youre now going to ferry them onto a shuttle bus to pick up your car. No wonder they get agitated. Forget the hassle and just book meet and greet parking, that way your car is waiting outside the terminal for you to just load in your luggageand the children, and drive away.
Travelling with elderly relatives
When travelling with elderly relatives, valet meet and greet parking is a welcome extra, particularly if mobility is an issue. Speaking from experience, elderly relations dont want to make a fuss, even if you want to get a wheelchair to help them access the airport they would much rather do it themselves, even if it takes ages. Getting them on and off a shuttle bus is just not always practical, it is much better to book meet and greet parking and ensure that you get them to the airport terminal in comfort and minimal fuss.
Business travellers
For business travellers, anything that make life easier and speeds up transportation has got to be a bonus. The novelty that some of us experience when flying has long worn off for business travellers who regularly commute by air or face a long flight for yet another business meeting. As the saying goes: time is money and with the convenience of meet and greet parking business travellers can shorten transfer times freeing up more time to work, focus on the next client, or just relax.
Disabled travellers
For disabled travellers, meet and greet parking offers much greater flexibility and comfort when travelling to the airport. A disabled driver has the convenience of driving right up to the airport terminal in their own specially-adapted vehicle and handing the keys over to an awaiting driver who will then park their car for them.
For disabled passengers travelling through an airport, it must be noted that any special assistance required arriving at the airport and getting to check-in must be prebooked in advance with the airport. Special assistance from check-in through to boarding the airline must be booked in advance with the travellers airline.
So when you are booking your next holiday consider opting for meet and greet parking, youll find the benefits and conveniences far outweigh the slight increase in price. Give it a try and chances are you wont want to book any other type of airport parking again.
