Why Water Purification Is Important?

We all know that life begins with purity so one needs to drink pure water.RO System

in India is one of the 21st century healthcare products with a vision to make India a better place. There are many people that are under misconception that RO based water purifiers are better than UV-based ( ultraviolet) ones. In terms of technological reasons this might be true but this does not mean one only has to only go for RO-based water purifier.

Day-by-day the quality of drinking water is deteriorating. Due to shortage of water people are forced to drink from bore-wells,overhead storage tanks, water tankers apart from municipal taps. These water sources normally contain bacteria as well viruses as well dissolved impurities like harmful chemicals and salts. Therefore experts suggest going for RO system in Delhi.

One needs to understand that water purification is not one sided because purification comprises of number of steps. These steps generally depend on the impurities in the water and the type of water used.

Know About Osmosis and Reverse Osmosis

To start with basics, let us understand what is osmosis and reverse osmosis.

Osmosis is nothing but the flow of water molecule across as semi-permeable membrane from a region of lower concentration to higher concentration. In case of drinking water the solute refers to dissolved salts and minerals like Magnesium and Calcium which is also known as Total Dissolved Salts( TDS) that are present in unfiltered water. Before moving further let us understand that why water purification is important?

Water purification is the process of getting rid of unwanted chemicals, suspended solids and gases, biological contaminants from contaminated water. The basic goal is to produce water fit for drinking.Water is usually purified for human consumption but this can also be done for variety of purpose like medical, chemical, pharmacological and industrial application.

What are the General Methods of Water Purification?

The general methods of water purification are filtration, distillation, sedimentation and other biological process like chemical processes such as flocculationand slow sand filters or biological active carbon. A best water purifier will also reduce the concentration of particular matter like parasites, bacteria, algae, viruses, fungi or any other suspended particles.

This also includes a range of dissolved and particulate materials that will be derived from water surface that have come in contact due to rainfall.Depending on the concentration of the dissolved salts, water is classified as soft or hard water.

Hard water has more dissolved salts and soft water has less dissolved salt. RO exactly does the opposite of osmosis which means the water molecule move from high water contraction to lower one.
