Surface and floor cleaning: Cleaning leafs and bugs from the water need to be a daily task. Not only is it no fun not to deal with soggy leafs while swimming, but removing nature on a daily basis will save you a lot of work down the road.
Cleaning out the filter and skimmer: This is a cleaning step you should do ever few days. This will get out all the extra stuff that the surface net and automatic vacuum will not get
Cleaning walls: A monthly task, while you are in the pool swimming, go around the edge with a strong brush and remove build up.
Backwash: Backwashing is an often overlooked step in pool maintenance. By running the pools pumps in reverse you are able to get read of any debris that might have built of in the pool pump system.
Water Analysis: This is the most daunting part of home swimming pool maintenance. Keeping the chemical levels can be very hard. Home test kits or all kinds and at a range of prices can be found online or from you chemical provider. There are a few reasons to closely maintain the chemical levels. If the mix gets out of balance it can burn swimmers eyes. More importantly, however, is the health of the swimmers. An out of balance pool cause rashes, and infections from out of control bacteria. It only takes a little neglect or one rain storm to through the balance. If you are unable to maintain your pools balance or are allergic to the chemicals, there are many companies that will handle the weekly upkeep.
When we breakdown the maintenance tasks it seems a lot less overwhelming. You don't have to do everything every day. The upkeep can be just as rewarding as the pool itself!
