Why You Might Be Interested In A Short Term Rental Property
When people think about properties to rent, they usually think about a house or an
apartment that will be rented out continuously for many months or years in one arrangement. This is usually because the tenant or tenants do not wish to buy a home, or cannot get on the property ladder for financial or other reasons. But long-term renting is not the only scenario, and there are many reasons why people look for properties to rent short term.
Large companies will often look for properties to rent short term. They do this because they may bring people over to London from an office overseas for a project. Putting a project team in a hotel may not be convenient in terms of getting the team to the office each day. There may not be a hotel near the office, but there are more likely to be houses near the office that can be rented.
Sometimes insurance companies look for properties to rent when something goes wrong with the house that the people had been living in. It could be flooding, a fire, or the house being struck by a vehicle. By living in a rented house while their home is being repaired, the people affected will be able to stay in the same area, so there will be minimal disruption to their lives. The cost of accommodating the people in these circumstances will be lower if they are put in a rented house than if they were to live in a hotel as a temporary home.
Companies in the entertainment industry will often look for properties to rent on a short term basis. Such firms may be movie studios filming on location, production companies shooting a music video, or advertising agencies making an advertisement for television or the cinema. Often managers in the music industry will rent a property short term for singer or band and their entourage while they are performing a residency at a particular venue.
As you can see, there are many diverse reasons why people look for properties to rent on a short term basis. These reasons can be summarized as:
(1) Cost: If the stay is more than a few days, you can get more for your money by putting people in rented houses that paying for hotels, which tend to be more expensive.
(2) Abundant supply: There are more houses and apartments than there are hotels, so there is more chance of being able to accommodate people closer to where they need to be.
(3) More like home: Staying in a rented property can be more like being at home than staying in a hotel, so the people staying there will be happier and more relaxed.
(4) Privacy: Business leaders, actors, singers and musicians often prefer a short term rent when they are away on business, as it is easier to control the access to a rented house compared with a hotel that is open to members of the public.
