. Honestly speaking, nobody likes to use a slow computer. Obsolete and outdated computer drivers could be some of the main reasons for these slowdowns.

The solution to this issue is easy, once you start to look around as you have done. It's to find new drivers to change your old ones. And yes, that is obviously easier said than done. But don't worry; I'll give you some tips on how to get these newer driver versions.

Now if you're a gamer like me, one of the most frequently updated drivers on your pc is most likely your graphics card drivers. One of the reasons behind this is because new games are released almost every month. And these new games almost always come with some sort of new technology that requires Nvidia or ATI to release a new driver version.

Sound drivers also play a big role in video games even if they are not as frequently advancing as graphics are. Not so much for movies. In any case, keeping your computer drivers up to date is really significant if you want your computer to perform at its best.

Let's talk about manually installing new drivers to make up for the old ones. Let's say that you got a new computer and you would like to install your old printer on to it. Chances are, the old drivers were created before the new operating system that you now have came out.

For example, you might have gotten the printer when Windows Vista was the newest operating system. And now your new computer has Windows 7 as its operating system. Nevertheless, the printer didn't even know that Windows 7 would ever exist. In order to fix this problem, your only option is to check out the printer manufacturer's website and get the new version of the driver.

I can't even tell you how often I've had to do this. And to make it worse, the install packages take an hour or two to download because of the many extra software that accompany it. Its pretty lame when you're in a rush to print something out.

The thing is, new drivers are necessary for old hardware. You'll only be disappointed if you don't update.

Now there are hundreds of devices which exist. Actually, there are thousands. And they all require drivers. A lot of hardware will run forever without driver updating. And there are also hardware products that which require an up to date driver. A driver install error can create problems that you probably don't want to deal with.

A lot of programs also exist to help minimize this problem. You can install them onto your computer and they'll do all the work for you. They'll search within the internet for updated drivers, they'll download them for you, they'll install them, and they will back your old ones up just in case anything went wrong.

Make sure you are connected to the internet when using these programs. These programs can't search and download the drivers in case you are offline. These can also cause problems if your internet is not working from time to time.

Lastly, you should be aware that drivers play a big role in terms of computer performance and the more you keep them up to date, the faster your computer will be.
