Why You Should Buy Organic Flannel Crib Blankets
When people become parents and have a new baby there is the decisions on buying baby and bedroom supplies for their newborn
. We have always like Flannel for shirts and nightshirts for adults. But for your baby, flannel and Organic Flannel makes even more sense for 5 reasons.
No Inks or Dyes
Not only should the cloth fibers be natural and organic but the inks and dyes are a possible path for toxic and poisonous chemicals to be used in the manufacturing and be slowly leaching unto anyone that comes in contact with them. Most of our baby sheets and bedding come with NO Inks or Dyes used at all.
No Bleaching
This is another chemical that is strong and may be bringing chemicals into your babys room and bedding. Bleaching and dying really would bring little to these garments. They might make them more white and uniform but we feel the tradeoff is not worth it. This is why most of our organic baby bedding comes made with no bleaches.
No Pesticides
Another chemical that might make it easier to produce a garment and its fibers is pesticides. We try to avoid excessive pesticides on any of our garments. On our Baby Flannel Bedding the flannel fibers have been grown with no pesticides used. This pure cotton Flannel can be harvested and made into bedding with minimal washing, bleaching and dying making a cleaner, safer, more ready to use product for you.
No Fire Retardant
Another chemical that you might not think of sneaking into your clothing is fire retardant. Manufacturers have used these for years for some of their textiles. Baby bedding is usually not near any flammable situations such as near the kitchen stove or an open fireplace. You should be very careful with a baby near these anyways. Fire retardant chemicals by their very design are made to not wash off and to be long lasting. We prefer to have baby sheets that do not have these. Especially since babies are so prone to chewing and teething on blankets.
Cotton certified to Global Organic Textile Standards
Following good safe practices is good with blankets and clothing for babies. But going even further and applying for certification and achieving this shows your commitment to the ideals. Our Organic Baby Sheets and Blankets are not only Organic but also GOTS certified. GOTS is the leading processing standard for textiles and dictates where the fibers can come from and what chemicals and dyes can be used in the manufacturing of them. We are proud to be selling Organic Baby Bedding that meets these standards.
