Why You Should Use Green Cleaning Products

As the environmental destruction and health hazards of the conventional cleaning

products has become more well known, there are more and more cleaner manufacturers that are joining the efforts to go green. The public is demanding that they make more green cleaners that are not harmful to our environment. The manufacturers are making better and better products as they, and other agencies, conduct more research and development in these areas.

In the past, the natural cleaners were quite ineffective, or at least they were viewed that way. Companies came out with lots and lots of petroleum based cleaners that worked well to kill any germs that got in their path. These cleaners also were good at removing dirt and grime and cleaning well. However, the petroleum based products can wreak havoc on our environment. They are not safe for it and actually do damage. For this reason, it is a good idea to become educated about the green cleaning products and see if you can make the switch and join the bandwagon of the green effort.

When your purchase and use the green cleaning products they will typically be non-toxic and made from renewable resources. They will also be biodegradable. There are actually some great home mixes as well that you can use such as vinegar and baking soda mixed together. With the widespread use of natural stone, many people have made the switch to natural products to use on them. Many of the harsh chemical cleaners are damaging to the porous nature of the natural stone products and natural cleaners are needed to protect them, but still clean them well.

The antibacterial cleaners, also called antimicrobial do not actually clean better than just plain soap and water. Many people do not realize this is true. When you wash your hands, studies show that regular soap and water will get them just as clean as the antibacterial soaps and cleaners.

Another good option for cleaning and freshening up your home is to use regular baking soda. Most people have baking soda in their homes already and it is also widely available at any grocery store. Baking soda is not expensive and is easy to find. It removes smells from your fridge and other areas as well as can be sprinkled on your carpets and vacuumed up. This can get rid of odors in your home and help your house be smelling clean and fresh in no time.

Employing the green way of cleaning is a great way to do your part in the effort to protect our environment and our earth.
