Why distance no object' has become a phrase of the past with the advent of worldwide couriers

In the days when mail and parcels were delivered by stagecoach, it could take days, or even weeks for a parcel to get from one end of the UK to the other. Many people never thought that they would be able to send a parcel even to many parts of Europe, let alone all the way to America and places far beyond, when their own country seemed such a vast place, and they had little or no knowledge of large parts of it.

Visiting far-off lands was the preserve of hardy explorers or the very rich. And because the journey often entailed travelling over rough tracks which were barely ever used, long-distance travel really was for those with a sense of adventure and a strong constitution. Even as relatively recently as a generation ago, the furthest most people travelled unless they had family or good friends living further afield was to the sunnier parts of Europe once a year on holiday.

Even then, advertisements for the few courier companies and parcel delivery specialists which existed were split into those which confined themselves to offering a purely local service, and a relative few whose publicity would state distance no object' and then, they would probably have to spend large amounts of time planning any route which took them outside their immediate area. Transport and communications have today, though, really succeeded in making the world a much smaller place.

The advent of cheaper vehicles and fuel, as well as transport which is capable of travelling far greater distances without the need to fill up on hay, or other fuel has broadened everyone's horizons. Once all this capability was at parcel delivery companies' disposal, businesses in every field realised that they could cast their nets further afield in search of both different and better products to offer their customers and, more importantly, more customers.

But the biggest differences to delivery companies' operations have been brought about by enhancements in technology. Increasing the number of vehicles and drivers in their fleets is a statement of intent in itself, but it can only make a difference and bring tangible results if all these extra resources can be deployed effectively. Satellite navigation and tracking systems ensure that this is possible for any company, but the real benefits come when such innovations can be applied on a massive scale. And that is just how the big international couriers have become such major players, and why they can now, despite their size, offer services which cater for every type of delivery whether it is a local drop, or a distance no object' assignment.

Whether it is worldwide parcel delivery or local courier services which are required, the best deals are found by looking online.
