Sony launched e-reader in 2006 to break the barrier between portable devices and books. They have been able to bring out a device that would provide the desired reading experience. The e-readers are almost like the PC or mobile internet device. They are capable of displaying e-books with e readers. 10 basic features of e-reader It has an electronic paper display It is viewable in direct sunlight. It doesnt use a backlight. It looks like physical paper and is soothing for the eyes than the bright backlit LCD. Readers can play MP3 audio files. Downloadable titles are available through Sonys online store. AC adaptor is optional. You may charge it by connecting it to your computer. e- reader can display- adobe PDF, ePub format, personal documents, blogs, RSS newsfeeds, JPEGs and et al The reader uses E link technology. This makes the letters and words look like printed. The font can always be changed from small to medium to large. A top level menu allows you to select books, audio, pictures and also helps in adjusting settings. Books can be selected by authors or by date. You can also organize books into collections and jump to a book marked page. e-readers have a wireless connection which allows you to download new e-books instantly. So when you finish reading a book you can easily download another without any sort of membership. The pictures are monochromatic and they look as if sketched. There are no built-in speakers so you have to plug a jack to listen to music. Apart from MP3 you can also listen to something. With a few limitations like lack of AC adaptor or its inability to be configured with any dictionary other than English, I find this hand held gadget an interesting thing. Sony has come up with quite a few models which are not far too expensive. Its a small, light weight gadget which is much less than the load of books and papers. You can lay your hand on one of them and become an e-reader with the Sony e-reader. Share:About the Author:
