It is once cleaned from impurities and extracted; it appears to be a homogeneous brown-black paste-like substance, with a glossy surface, a peculiar smell and bitter taste.

It is also known that aak is used in pharmacology and is good for digestive system and given in liver disorders, indigestion and worm infestation. It is also useful in skin disorders and but its toxicological effect causes burning sensation in stomach and also causes vomiting. The different parts of the plant which are brough under utilization include skin of root, milk, flowers and leaves.
