Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary is spread over an area of 834 sq km. this excellent sanctuary is a home to a variety of flora and fauna. There is rich vegetation, different kinds of trees and plants present in this wonderful sanctuary. It is blessed with distinct animals such as languor, barking deer, slender Loris, Indian pangolin, giant iguana. There are more than 295 species of birds found here. The sanctuary is a rated sanctuary for wildlife photography. It is also a Tiger Reserve. The sanctuary is blessed with 49 species of mammals, 246 species of birds, 28 species of reptiles, 8 species of amphibians, 22 species of fishes and 112 species of butterflies. The best time to visit the sanctuary ranges between the months of October to June. Kottayam is the nearest railway station.
