Will More Attempts In Mba Exam Help Aspirants? Have Your Say

The biggest fear that lurks in the minds of MBA aspirants is the fear of losing one

year's hard work if they fail to score well in an MBA entrance exam. This gives birth to high levels of stress and ends in frustration for the not-so-successful.

The Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS), which conducted the first computer-based NMAT, has decided to give three chances to the NMAT 2011 test takers. NMIMS mentions, "The test will be conducted in a time frame of three months starting from October 2010, allowing choice of two Retakes to the students, with the best of three scores being considered for admissions."

Dr Rajan Saxena, Vice Chancellor, NMIMS says the facility of three attempts would be highly beneficial for the MBA aspirants: "This year, we are graduating to the next level of computer-based testing, which will provide convenience to the students not only in terms of selection of the date for the NMAT, but will also help them to improve upon their performance and hence improve their chances of success in NMIMS MBA programs. We believe that in today's times, the NMAT in its new format should empower the student to give his best performance for admission to our institution."

In case of GMAT one can take the exam once every 31 calendar days and no more than five times in a rolling 12-month period. If a MBA aspirant wishes to give more than 5 attempts he/she can request in writing.

Although we cannot guess to what extent the more number of attempts will help the MBA aspirants in fulfilling their career goals, but it is for sure that the number of attempts will not guarantee admission to a B-school, as the admissions committee will only take into consideration the highest score.

Apart from a good test score, MBA aspirants should take note that for them to be able to get a seat at a top B-school they also need to focus on building leadership qualities and communication abilities, and also have a consistent good academic record.

Top exam experts advise that if you can give your best shot at the first attempt then there is no need to further burn your night lamp and increase your electricity bills.
