There was a time when everyone went out to get diesel engine vehicles

The original diesel engine was designed to run on peanut oil or vegetable oil but because petroleum was much cheaper, people prefered diesel fuel. For this reason, everyone has forgotten that diesel cars can easily be powered by natural cooking oils. Nowadays, biodiesel fuels are being developed by using soybean oil, vegetable oil, animal fats and unwanted restaurant grease. B20 can be described as a combination of 20% biodiesel and 80% petroleum diesel, and this kind of fuel can run any diesel vehicle. What really is wonderful about biodiesel would be that the fuel is biodegradable plus it gives out low gas emissions.

One more alternative is a fuel that is a byproduct of petroleum refining called liquefied petroleum gas or LPG, which can be used in place of diesel fuel. As compared to other kinds of petroleum products, LPG is the most affordable. LPG can be easily used by setting up a conversion kit that turns the propane in LPG into fuel for your diesel vehicle. Another eco-friendly and renewable fuel is ethanol. It doesn't make contributions to the greenhouse gas emissions, mainly because it is a clean fuel. You'll find a fuel called E85 which is really a mixture of 15% gasoline and 85% alcohol. The price of this fuel is somewhat higher than traditional fuel.

Electric vehicles might sound like a good idea, but they have two primary problems. They don't really go very fast and the battery life is very short. Each of the alternative fuels for automobiles seem to have their unique problems. However, developments and new breakthroughs are being made everyday. Sooner or later we'll have a vast majority of our cars running on alternative fuels.
