Will You Book A Nissan Leaf?
So, the Nissan Leaf is set to open reservations for the 100% electric car in next week
. While the deliveries are expected to start in the month of December, there is a lot of buzz on the Leaf's bookings for sure.
The question that I am trying to answer here is essentially for me. Should I buy a Nissan Leaf? Given the fact that Nissan Leaf is an all-electric car and the State Governments have invested heavily to come up with the charging stations across the States, the choice looks compelling too.
Nissan's Leaf looks like an interesting and economical proposition due to the $7500 Federal tax subsidy and a chance to qualify to setup a home charging station. On top of this, the cost looks just about right at 349$ a month for a 3 year lease period. For a one-time payment of around $26,000, you can get to own the lithium-ion powered Leaf that is supposed to have a mileage of 100 miles over a full charge.
The only thing that is holding me back is the fact that Chevy's Volt is also slated to arrive soon.
However, it may not be a bad idea to go ahead and reserve the Leaf since the reservation involves registering on Nissan's USA website and paying a refundable 99$ deposit. Many people may not like to miss the bus on this one, and in the event someone is not keen on Leaf in the near future the deposit is refundable and he can just quit out of the booking.
For the automotive segment that is seeing a very thick action as far as electric cars are concerned, next 12 months will decide the fate of Nissan Leaf and Chevrolet Volt. It remains to be seen how these cars perform against the established hybrid versions that are already available in the market like the Toyota Prius.
For sure, the Government seems to be playing a positive part in ensuring that the future drives on electric cars and makes the environment cleaner and greener. And the support from the Government may help in winning over consumers who have reservations in investing on the green technologies. You could consider Government's role as the one that is going to help customers to invest in the electric cars for the sake of better and greener environment. And tax rebates are one sure way to get more people to become committed electric car buyers.
