Willie Nelson Tickets - Timeless Tracks For The Holiday Season

Willie Nelson strives to be anything but traditional when it comes to his music

. The legendary songwriter has worked with such notable artists as Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings and Kris Kristofferson in the past, but in many ways Nelson stands alone. His offbeat, outlaw country style certainly sets him apart from much of the pop-infused country music on air today. His fans will certainly find a reason to celebrate the upcoming holiday season by scoring a pair of Willie Nelson tickets.

On Tuesday, Dec. 15, fans should head to the Austin Music Hall to check out the Willie Nelson & Family Holiday Show. The event is scheduled to be a family affair featuring Willie along with Paul Nelson, Amy Nelson, Luke Nelson and Jacob Nelson. Also on the lineup is special guest Asleep at the Wheel.

Willie Nelson's music career started in the 1960s when he started writing songs that would soon become major hits. He was responsible for "Night Life," by Ray Price; "Crazy," by Patsy Cline; "Hello Walls," by Faron Young and "Funny How Time Slips Away" by Billy Walker. By the start of the 1970s, Nelson was gaining more traction in the outlaw country music market and he collaborated with well-known outlaw country pioneer Waylon Jennings.

Nelson struck gold with The Red Headed Stranger, which arrived in 1975. The record was actually an unusual concept album that told the story of a preacher on the run after murdering his wife and her new lover. This quirky, unconventional album went on to sell millions of copies and was the jumping off point for Nelson.

Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings experienced massive success with their brand of outlaw country, which was so named because it didn't follow the country music rules set up by Nashville. Shortly after The Red Headed Stranger, RCA produced a various artists album called Wanted: The Outlaws!, which used material from Nelson and Jennings as well as Tompall Glaser and Jessi Colter. The record spawned a number one single with the Jennings and Nelson duet "Good Hearted Woman." In the five years to follow, Nelson found himself dominating both the country and pop music charts with ballads like "Remember Me," "If You've Got the Money I've Got the Time" and "Uncloudy Day."

Nelson continued his collaborative efforts with Jennings on the duet album Waylon and Willie. Another signature song was created from the effort, called "Mammas Don't Let Your Babies Grow up to Be Cowboys."

Although the 1970s proved to be the breakout point for Nelson, he continued to carve out a niche in the music industry in subsequent decades. In 1985 he formed the "supergroup" the Highwaymen along with Jennings, Johnny Cash and Kris Kristofferson. Although they didn't last long, the group of outlaw musicians was able to expose a new generation of country fans to their brand of folk-inspired tunes.

These days Nelson is still seeing the success of his early days on the scene, and it's a good bet that on Christmas day your family members will love to see a pair of Willie Nelson tickets in their stockings.
