Wind Turbine Prices: 3 Reasons They Are Heading Down

Home wind turbine prices are low and getting lower

. This is becoming a very popular way to get power generation technology at the source of where the energy is actually consumed.

This is a very different way than we have dispersed power in the past. Currently, the majority of the electricity made in United States is generated in central processing plants and then delivered over high-voltage wires to the places where it can actually be used. This is a very inefficient way to make and deliver energy but it has worked well with the fossil fuel resources that we currently employ because of the economies of scale of incinerating those materials in a central processing plant.

These are the 3 strongest reasons wind turbine prices are coming down even further in the near future...

Government backing in the form of rebates and credits - Now that President Obama has gotten behind the production of home wind energy and other sources of renewable power, the industry is really taking off. His administration has gotten behind dispersed generation of power in a big way. This is really the only way to jumpstart renewable power in the United States. Without the rebates and credits available from governments it is unlikely that people will make the initial investment in home wind turbine systems because the upfront payment is so high. So, the future of this industry will depend to a large extent on how aggressive the government and others are with credits and rebates for investment in home wind power.

Economy of scale and production efficiencies - As more and more of these units are deployed out in the field, the prices will of course come down. That is because by accelerating the pace at which people are purchasing these devices will send a message to the manufacturers that a lot more demand is on the way and they can go ahead and invest money in factories and in larger stocks of raw materials that will cause the prices to come down even further.

Wind turbine kit technology is improving - As more people show interest in wind energy devices for their homes, the more manufacturers are becoming competitive by offering alternatives to the current technology that improve the performance of these devices. This will eventually lead to cheaper and more affordable versions of what we have available now and we will therefore see even lower prices for many of these devices than we are seeing today.

In summary, wind turbine prices are definitely sliding down fast but the sooner you get one onboard, the sooner you will start getting your future power, or at least part of it, for free.
