Windows 7 PC- A Wireless Hotspot
Microsoft"s latest operating system, Windows 7, immediately shows the wireless and other available networks on your computer.
Wireless hotspot
The feature is an improvement over Windows Vista Wireless connection, which gives random spikes and lags every 30 to 60 seconds. Also, Vista Wireless network looks for new access points every 30 to 60 seconds.
This article will show you how to use the wireless network in Windows 7.
If you want to use
Windows 7 wireless network then you must meet the Windows 7 requirements. You must have a laptop or desktop with wireless card. The wireless card on your laptop and desktop should be free. If you want to share the wireless connection with others then you have to be plugged into a wires connection or have a second wireless card. This won"t work on some networks that have group policies.
STEP 1. Start the wireless network. You need to get into the Network and Sharing Center. You can also quickly get into it using the network icon in the System Tray.
STEP 2. Find the "Set up a new connection or network" link.
STEP 3. In order to share files or internet connection between two computers, you have to choose the "Ad Hoc Network" option.
STEP 4. You have to give a name to your network and choose some security options. The most important option that you must select is to check the box for "Save this network".
Your "Ad Hoc Network" should be running and ready to start connecting devices to your network. Also you can quickly select this wireless network from the quick-select wireless network list.
The last step is to enable the wireless network so that anyone can connect to "Ad Hoc Network" to use Internet.
To enable the wireless network, click on "Change adapter settings" link which is in the "Network and Sharing Center". Make sure that you only enable the internet sharing on the adapter that is actually connected to the Internet.
Device Stage feature on Windows 7 offers a novel way to interact with devices and hardware attached to your system like phone, camera, printer, or portable media player from the Windows desktop.New way-interacting with devices
Like a multi-function version of Autoplay, Device Stage displays all the applications, services, and information related to your device and makes it easy to find the things you want to do with your devices on your Windows 7 PC.
Apart from working for devices connected via USB, the tool functions for Bluetooth and Wi-Fi as well. In many cases, Device Stage does not need software installation "" with any additional drivers that might be required automatically retrieved from Windows Update.
As a way of extending Windows 7"s features to expose device capabilities, the feature also supports the use of Jump Lists via the new Windows Taskbar.
The tool is customized by the device manufacturer making it specific to the devices you own. Microsoft used a multifunction Canon device to demonstrate the feature. The company branded the banner area of the operating system with Canon, with icons in the bottom space for ordering ink and other printing supplies. It also displayed how a manufacturer can specify particular software for certain functions. Rather than the built in Windows Fax and Scan software, the Canon"s "Scan" task defaulted to the included Canon software.
The Device Stage is defined by XML files given by vendors. Microsoft claims that there will be some online repository of Device Stage definitions that can be retrieved automatically (like a driver) when you connect a new device.
A device supporting Device Stage, when connected, appears on the new Windows Taskbar in Windows 7 as an icon of the actual device. The user will have to right-click on the device on the taskbar to get all the Device Stage options. It can be noticed that for the D90, the Jump List shows everything displayed in the tool for the device.
