Now reinstall windows defender.
Re-register the different DLL files associated with Windows Defender.
Use command prompt and run the register command for every DLL file by typing "regsvr32 and press "Enter" every time.
The list of important DLL files you need to include are as follows,atl.dll, initpki.dll, mssip32.dll, softpub.dll, wintrust.dll, wuapi.dll, wuaueng.dll, wucltui.dll, wups.dll, wuweb.dll.
You can also fix it automatically by visiting the Microsoft help support desk , click the fix it button and then click and click run in the file download dialogue box and follow the steps in the fix it wizards.
