Winning The Affiliate Bonus Wars
People who want to buy digital products in the Internet marketing niche
, especially the expensive ones, are used to seeing affiliates offering bonuses in return for them buying through their affiliate links. The market for digital products within the Internet marketing niche has become so competitive that any affiliate who doesn't have a bonus offer will be completely ignored by potential buyers. This doesn't usually apply to the average digital product, but if you want to be an affiliate for a highly popular "guru" product, then you better have a killer bonus ready.
If you've been involved in Internet marketing for some time now, then you've probably been a part of a major product launch either as an affiliate or as a customer. If you are like the average Internet marketer, you're probably on dozens of lists, and every time a major product launch occurs, you get dozens of emails announcing bonuses. To understand how to win the affiliate bonus wars, you must first approach a product as a potential customer. What kind of bonus would you like to get with the purchase of this product? What kind of bonus would go hand in hand with this product?
Searching for existing popular products in the Internet marketing niche will return results for many review sites with bonuses that are being offered. You'll probably find the usual bonuses such as cash rebates, additional free products, or limited access to a membership site. Not to say these types of bonuses do not appeal to people, but if you want your bonus to stand out, then it has got to be somehow different. If everybody offered cash rebates or free products, then the bonus wars would get to the point where affiliates would keep offering more and more cash back until their profit margins would be slim or more and more free products until the actual product being offered gets devalued.
To create a unique bonus package, you'll need to think a little out of the box. For example, if the product that you're trying to sell is a course about a certain method of making money online, offer a webinar for people who buy through your link only to help them better understand this method. Or if you're selling a piece of software, offer to help with the installation and even to get on the phone to discuss ways of taking advantage of the software's uses.
Once you have created your bonus offer, you should introduce scarcity by limiting the amount of bonus packages you'll be giving away. If your bonus offer is truly valuable, then your prospects will see this and not want to miss out on your bonus. If you do introduce scarcity, and you should, always follow through on your word and take your bonus offer down.
Most importantly, you should not come off as an annoying salesperson trying to push your bonus offer too hard. Your bonus offer should be complementary to the affiliate product, so you should let your prospects know that not only is the product very good, but that your bonus offer is also the perfect companion to the product.
