Winter Home Decoration - Feel Cosy

If you are looking to create a different feel when the colder seasons approach

, it's very simple. If you are starting with a neutral color wall you'll be able to add any type of color palette you'd like each season you decide to change the decor. Winter is that one season which you are unable to go outside and enjoy yourself so why not figure out new ideas for your home?

When decorating for the winter season, why not try to make it feel warm, comfortable, and inviting. Fluffy throws placed on the sofa and armchairs will make you want to sit and curl up with them. Make sure when choosing throws for your room that they are comfortable and not just for show. All you want on a cold winter's night is a warm blanket and a cup of hot cocoa to keep your warm rather than a rough blanket which you can't stand.

Purchase a thick area rug to place in your room to give it that warmth texture feel. If you have a wooden floor you most likely would purchase a white or cream colored rug so it would stand out rather than a darker colored rug. The same goes if you have existing carpet which is lighter. Try finding a darker rug to place on top of the carpet for the winter season. IN the winter time the colors which are most popular are blues. If you are someone whom likes to be bold try purchasing a rug which is in the dark greens or burgundy family. If you have hardwood floors always remember to add a slip free backing to your rug so no one gets injured if it decides to slip with one step onto it.

Curtains are also another great way to change the theme in a room depending on the season. There are many brands out now which are reversible so then you don't have another set of curtains to store away. Simply turn them inside out and you have a great new look without spending any money.

Change the look of your furniture by adding slipcovers during the winter months. This allows you to completely change your color scheme without buying any new furniture. Even if you only change the cushion covers to a lighter or darker color, depending on your tastes, the contrast can be very pleasing to the eye and gives the room an entirely different feel. This also helps with wear and tear, as you can wash your slipcovers with each season as you make decor changes within your room.

It's very simple to switch your room from season to season and costs only a few bucks. Winter can be at your home anytime of the year.
