Winter Park Toyota Camry Dealers Searching For Rock Stars On Myspace

Know a garage band that really kicks? Well, if they are among those on Toyotas MySpace

Music site and you get all your friends to vote for them, they might just hit the big time. This is the second year Toyota has held such a contest to get artists and fans to visit the Toyota MySpace Music site.

The Toyota Music Rock the Space 2 winner will receive lots of gear in the form of a $10,000 prize pack from Fender and a record contract! Hows that for 15 minutes of fame?

Winter Park Toyota Camry customers had the opportunity not only to submit demos from the MP3 to share but to vote for their favorite band. Whats in it for Toyota? Well, it gets customers to visit the Toyota MySpace page and probably draws in a younger and broader demographic than would normally be there checking out cars.

Although this years contest ended June 7, Toyota is likely to keep this contest or something similar going on an annual basis. The Toyota MySpace Music site offers digital programs for creating demo tapes, visual themes that can be shared on MySpace and other social networks and also allows users to add the music to their profiles. Your Winter Park Toyota dealership staff loves the music contest and hopes Toyota will continue it next year.

Now that the submission deadline has passed and voting has closed, a panel of artists from the music industry will choose 10 artists as semifinalists. They will be billed on the Toyota Music profile and site visitors can vote again to reduce the field to five.

Theres also a fan favorite category and this artists can be a sixth finalist. Once the finalists are announced fans can vote and the winner will be revealed in September. Winter Park Toyota Camry customers should check the site regularly to see when they can begin voting for the finalists.

Last years winner, a band named Call the Cops, releases their first album this summer and will be on tour with the Vans Warped Tour this month. This band had almost 60 million demo hits on their song last year during the contest.

Kim Kyaw, a senior media strategist with Toyota, said the contest is receiving a lot of attention and interaction but created more voting opportunities this time around. This year we wanted to provide more stickiness a reason for people to come back and vote. So we have duels where people can come back and randomly vote on things like best song title and best widget design, Kyaw added.

There were 19,000 submissions in the fist contest when Toyota only expected to bet about 1,200 songs. This years count has not been released yet, but its sure to be higher. Maybe the staff at your Winter Park Toyota dealership will even consider putting together the ultimate garage band for next years contest.
