Winter Park Toyota hybrids continue to sell well across the globe
Toyota continues to sell well, not just in the United States where the company has
overcome recall and mud-slinging obstacles in the last year, but around the world where consumers are looking for safety, quality, efficiency and eco-friendliness. Winter Park Toyota dealers are proud of Toyota's advances in technology.
With vehicles like the Prius gaining in popularity, Toyota plans to move forward with advancing technology fuel efficiency and lower emissions. According to David Buttner, senior director of sales and marketing for Toyota Australia, ""Toyota is testing a range of future technologies such as lithium-ion batteries, plug-in hybrid systems and battery electric vehicles, but these are not yet ready for the market."
Toyota is currently testing 500 lithium-ion-powered Prius Plug-In hybrids in Europe, Japan and the United States and plans full-scale retail sales to begin late next year. The first of the U.S. hybrids were delivered to test organizations in the western states last month. Toyota hopes to have results available online as the data comes in. Winter Park used car customers may be impressed with the numbers from the Plug-in Prius models, which may just revolutionize how we drive short distances.
Toyota's goal is to sell one million hybrid vehicles annually and is working to produce a hybrid version of every Toyota model in the next two decades. Whether the plug-ins will be as popular as the hybrids remains to be seen.
Much will likely hinge on the timely implementation of convenient and affordable ways to charge the vehicles. If a charging infrastructure can be put in place, but vehicles will be not only affordable and greener than anything we have now, but practical. But it's a bit of a Catch 22, as the charging stations don't make economic sense for anyone to invest in without a certain number of plug-ins available to use them and how many of us want to buy a plug-in that we can't plug in. This sounds like a project for the government to come in and spend millions of our tax dollars on. After all, the fewer people it will serve, the more it will cost if we make it a government project. I digress. Winter Park Toyota dealers and customers would love nothing more than to see some enterprising person invest in charging stations and keep the tax dollars out of it while providing a much-needed service for plug-in drivers.
When it comes to hybrids, Prius has made up 70 percent of Toyota's sales, with the hybrid Camry coming in second. This bodes well for the success of the Plug-in Prius when it comes on the market later this year. Winter Park used car customers will likely be watching and waiting for that first plug-in to hit the showroom.
