Daylight Saving Time or spring forward has come again. And with it, the questions surrounding it too have popped up. For some it is a great way to save energy at the time when energy costs are rising and saving energy is among the most important war cry for many governments. But does it really save energy?
Many studies have been conducted to find whether Daylight Savings Time really saves energy or is a source of inconvenience for people who are made to change their clocks every now and then.
One study reveals that instead of conserving energy, the daylight saving time actually increased the consumption of energy. While studying the use of electricity in Indiana following the implementation of daylight saving time , Kotchen and his colleague Laura Grant unexpectedly found that daylight time led to a 1 percent overall rise in residential electricity use, costing the state an extra $9 million. Although daylight time reduces demand for household lighting, the researchers suggest that it increased demand for cooling on summer evenings and heating in early spring and late fall mornings.
Another investigative report conducted in California also reached to almost a similar conclusion. The study conducted by California Energy Commission resource economist Adrienne Kandel found out to their horror that the tradition of extending daylight time actually had no effect on energy consumption and consumption pattern in the state. They concluded after a long study that the actual drop of 0.2 percent in energy consumption was well within the statistical margin of error of 1.5 percent.
Meanwhile people too are tired of the DTS and the associated setting clocks backward and forward. A reader has this to say, We believe simply that Daylight savings time should be considered necessary only at the local level, and even the individual level. As a small business in the Indiana District, we met with the employee base and with some of the interactive suppliers and associates we work with regularly. Overwhelmingly, we made a decision that acknowledging daylight savings time in our organization simply is not necessary. We choose not to adjust our daily activities within our companies activities despite the DST legislation; it just simply does not make sense for us.
In general speaking,
12V LED has become more and more affordable, therefore
auto LED bulbs have been used widely.
