Wish Them Happy Deepawali With Diwali Gifts To India

I still remember those pre-Diwali days when I was in India

. The whole house was to be revamped, and everything was to be cleaned, washed and rearranged. We had a joint family. There were 16 members including young and old all. Every member of the family was given a task as per his/her capability, except grandfather and grandmother. They were to only guide all others on how to do something or how not to do it. I was given the work of washing small household utensils along with my elder sister. We all would then be taken to market to buy a lot of good things including clothes, sweets and crackers. My mother would also prepare a lot many dishes at home. I would just wonder when I would be able to eat them. The entire building was whitewashed and decorated in an illuminated way. The whole environment would turn into auspicious aura. Then on the day of the Puja, wow! So many happy things would take place that the excitement was at all its high. We all would worship goddess Laxmi together then were given our share of crackers to burst out of the house. Then there was a round of tasty sweets and dishes. And from the next day many guests, friends, relatives, and neighbors used to visit us and we also went to several other places wishing everyone Happy Diwali.

I have been living in New York for last 5 years now. I rarely get a chance to return to India more than once a year so always try to pay a visit home around Diwali. I take Diwali gifts to India for each of the family member, and my friends along. My mother would pack a lot of Diwali sweets with me when I return for you can not get that homely taste and delicacies anywhere else.

Unfortunately I will not be able to make it on Deepawali this year because of an urgent assignment in my bucket. They are sure going to miss my absence. But I have found a way to lessen it though. I am planning to send gifts to India online this year. I can even send Diwali sweets to India. There are some good shops selling Diwali gifts online. And the collection is really awesome. It has saved me a lot of time to go to market, and struggle in parking lots and traffic jams to buy those costly gifts.
