There are many different wobble boards on the market today and they all help you achieve similar goals. The main goal is to perfect your balance and by doing so you will work a whole range of muscles. They can help you lose weight and keep your mid section nice and tone. They can also help you recover from many common joint injuries.
There are several different names for these products. Here are the most common.
Wobble Boards - These consist of a round wooden deck covered with a grip tape type surface. This deck is mounted on top of a sphere. It looks kind of like an upside down sombrero and you have to stand on the rim and keep your balance.

Rocker Board or Pad - These features a wider deck for more stability. If you are a beginner then this is a great place to start.
