Mary Engle Pennington is one of the popular women inventors who hold an important
position in the frozen food industry with her invention of processes to keep the food such as vegetables, fruits and fish, frozen. She became the first female member of the American Society of Refrigerating Engineers and also is one of the first female members of the American Chemical Society.
Another great women inventor who contributed in many sectors including food sector is Beulah Henry. She has an amazing 49 inventions patented in her name. She received her first patent at the age of 25 for an ice cream freezer. She has patents registered in four different countries. A hand bag, an umbrella that has changeable snap on covers which can be varied according to outfits, Latho' a sponge to hold bar soap which can be opened and closed, and a machine to cut sponges are some of her inventions. She also has many educational inventions to her credit. Kiddie Klock' to teach children how to tell time, a board game to easily teach geography called Cross Country' are some of her inventions in the kids' educational field. Another interesting invention is a toy called "Miss Illusion Doll" with interchangeable costumes and accessories.
Bessie Blount, an African American from Virginia designed and patented an electrical/electronic apparatus for disabled people to feed themselves. The system comes with support to keep the dish and bowl which is attached to the neck of the patient with braces. Even though she received the patent in 1951, she surrendered her rights to French government the next year as she was unable to market it effectively.

women inventors is Dr. Temple Grandin. Her accomplishments are truly amazing considering that she did not even start speaking till the age of four and she was living with autism. She has a PhD in animal science and has developed number of inventions in the animal science using behavioral principles to control animals. Dr.Grandin's center-track restraint systems for cattle are still widely used in North America. She has designed them in a way that the animals are calm and unhurt with its use.
A promising inventor on the horizon is Jeanie Low from Houston. She received her first patent in 1992 when she was just a teenager for her invention of "Kiddie Stool". Frustrated with breaking of plastic stools, she made her invention which can be folded and hinged under the sink.
Sally Fox revolutionized the textile industry in that late 1980s with her invention of Foxfibre cotton. It revolutionized the industry as it replaced the long and tedious process of bleaching and dying the white cotton to make colored fabrics which was the earlier practice before her invention.
Bette Nesmith Graham while working as a secretary invented one of the most widely used office supply called in different names as whitener or correction pen or white out or liquid paper. Her invention came from necessity as they were struggling to retype everything whenever there was a mistake made. White out is widely used nowadays to correct mistakes in printed papers. She patented her invention in 1958.
