The clogs made of wood are, however, still worn by the farm workers in the Netherlands. They are also preferred by the Dutch factory workers and fishermen. Traditionally these clogs were made by hand by special artisans or the wearers. Each pair was carved out of wood, a factory had a number of workers and output was low. With the introduction of automatic machines, the manufacturing process became fast.

In the 1970s, the clogs became popular throughout North America and Europe. The modern day clogs are generally made of different fabric, such as leather, suede or rubber for the uppers with a wooden sole. Three types of woods are usually used for manufacturing the wooden clogs. These are yellow poplar, tulip poplar and European willow. All of these woods are hard as well as water proof. The lumber is not treated after being cut but is used to make the shoes. Other materials are not that necessary for manufacturing this type of clogs. Some shoes are also decorated and varnished with paints.

Now the wooden clog are made much more stylish with new designs. They are now available in different colours that match the feminine taste. They can be worn with different dresses including jeans, skirts and capris. The shoes have a wooden bottom and synthetic sole. The upper part of the shoes is made with different materials. These shoes are now designed by various fashion designers. These clogs can be an excellent addition to your closet. They are available in different sizes and shapes.
