Many people have been using WordPress for blogging but not many are aware that WordPress can also be used as a Content Management System (CMS).

What is the benefit WordPress as a CMS?

Firstly it is easy to use. In my personal opinion, it is even easier than Joomla. WordPress allow you to create pages easily and update the pages in every way possible.

Secondly, the CMS needs to be SEO friendly. WordPress itself allow you to create SEO-friendly URL called permalink. You can also set the meta data to be used on every page. In addition, there are plugins for Google sitemap as well as Yahoo sitemap so that Google and Yahoo can find and index all the links at your site easily.

Lastly, the blogging feature is a vital aspect of a website. It allow you to keep in touch with your readers through constantly updated information. For a corporate website etc it can include latest news about the company or press releases.

How to setup WordPress as a CMS

This can be easily done by creating a static page and making it the home page instead of the blog.

6. Set which page will be designated the "front" page. Choose from display your latest blog posts on the "Blog" Page and "static page" for the "Home" Page.

It is lightweight and this allow it to be used for building a fast -loading website.
