Wordpress Or Html For Your Web Design?

Wordpress has a truly strong following, which shows no sign of stopping

. Clearly it's an extremely powerful platform for not just building a blog upon but clearly a website, and also as a CMS system.

Being a blog platform it's obviously an extremely user friendly script designed for anyone to be able to use. Which in turn creates one of the most user friendly CMS systems available.

Html is one of the oldest coding methods since the beginning of the world wide web. Still going strong, and still trusted by the majority of web developers. Teamed up with CSS it's still the most widely used and stable developing method used.

As far as CMS goes, html will always require an html editor, professionals can use something as simple as notepad, the less experienced can use dreamweaver, and those with no experience may just struggle greatly without a third party platform to edit their website. There is many available, but none more user friendly than wordpress.

There is a separated debate when it comes to search engine optimisation in regards to wordpress vs html. Wordpress strong for its ease for creating and adding content to your website.

From personal experience google seems to index wordpress blogs extremely quickly. Although due to the dynamic nature of wordpress you may find your google ranking can go up, and just as quickly down in a slightly yo-yo effect.

It may interest you to know as with nearly everything to do with wordpress there is a plugin to fix this, easily being able to turn your dynamic wordpress blogs into static html pages. This is terrific for those pages you don't believe you'll be updating often, but can be a slight issue if it is pages you may need to constantly update.

Now if you're taking advantage of wordpress as a website platform, you may be thinking of, or already be, using it as a blog platform. In this regard you will struggle greatly to find a better platform for this usage. Although if you're thinking of starting a blog, be prepared for a lot of spam.

Spam comments are the biggest issue you will receive. Even though on default people who try and leave spam on your blog would not receive any benefit if you approved their spam comment as generally by default your wordpress will be set up to 'not follow' links left in comments or linked to commented name.

You may be thinking why would people leave links on my site!?

Widely believed is that google is a big fan of 'backlinks', this is when another website links back to your website. But as I mentioned, your wordpress will most likely be set up to 'not follow' these links, which basically means they will ignore them and it would not benefit the spammers google ranking.

Overall, I think wordpress is excellent for its plugins and cms options. One of my only concerns is that most wordpress websites look extremely similar which leads me to believe there maybe restrictions in regards to design possibilities.

Html is the tried and tested option, and will not loose its popularity as many web developers are proficient in this method of coding.
