Anyone who thinks that a work at home career is simply a way to make money instead of going to a regular job is completely missing the point. If you haven't fully explored or understood the advantages of working from home, you either need to delve into it or go back to your old job. The people who truly want to work at home understand that there are many advantages to this arrangement and although they often make more money, they would do it for less.

Being able to work at home is primarily about freedom. This includes freedom to set your own work and play schedule and to prioritize time with your family over work. The vast majority of working people dream about owning their own business someday but many do not realize that this goal is much easier to achieve then they think. You don't need to invent the next Facebook or iPhone to start your own business. You can start to work at home with nothing more than computer access and a little bit of free time.

I can honestly say that I had no idea how great life could be when I started to work at home. I can now eat, sleep, exercise and work on my schedule. It's amazing how much better you can feel when you have more control over your day to day activities. Exercising and losing weight becomes easy. Proper diet and nutrition are simple when you can prepare good food at convenient times. Working when you are most productive means you can switch from putting time in to getting work done. I often accomplish more in less time because I am so much more productive now. When I started to work at home, I had no idea what a huge impact this would have on my life.

Also, generally speaking if you work at home, you are self employed. This means you have control over your income. You can decide to work harder to be able to take nice vacations or buy a new car. If you are going to a regular job you have almost no control over your income. You get paid what they offer. You get raises when your boss feels like giving you one. It can be very difficult to save any extra money because they are limiting your ability to make more. In many ways the company you work for basically owns you. Our culture has conditioned us to go to school, get a job, work hard, retire and then die. Once you can work at home, you will realize that there is so much more to life. You can adjust your goals around what you really want to achieve in life.

Many of our favorite books and movies use fighting for freedom as a central theme. We love that the characters are willing to sacrifice anything to gain their freedom. In our daily life, freedom can be so easy to achieve, yet we trudge through life hoping and wishing for something to change. Make the switch and work at home and your family, your income and your mind with thank you for it.
