Hospital work is very challenging as various concerns pops in the emergency room from the basic fever to the complicated myocardial infarction. As a medical doctor it is my duty to attend to these patients no matter how simple their problems are hoping that I can give them solutions to pacify their troubled minds.Living in the busy streets of Colorado requires much agility and stamina as more patients come in everyday. I do not complain about the work load. In fact, I find my work challenging and rewarding at the same time but I am also a human being with limitations. Running to and fro, talking loudly to the point of yelling to hear my instructions amidst the chaos and even lifting patients when there is a need to. At the end of the day I feel tired, consumed and rigid. Thankfully, I have my regular two days per week off enough for much needed rest and relaxation. There are times when I wake up in the morning, my back feels like an anvil pulling me down and wanting me to sleep. I guess the work itself has caused me back pains over the years where there are times it is manageable and sometimes its worst. During such hard days I visit my friend at back pain Center. We have been friends for six years now and I trust him with my life. He has been constantly reminding me to watch for my movements and body alignments during work however I work in a fast paced environment and infusing his wisdom to my job seems to be impossible at times. He is also a physician, so he understands me as well. Our friendship dates back during medical school. We started off, I must say, competing against each other not only in academics but as well in sports. But with the present state of mind and age, we regarded our brawl as healthy competition and with that we became good friends encouraging each other until we graduated. It was sad though that we chose different paths in our medical career becoming independent in our selected fields. But we still remained friends. I was part of his wedding and he was as well with mine. And now he just announced that his wife is pregnant. I am so happy for him. Sometimes just talking to him relieves my back pain. I believe I just need to find a way to relax sometimes and be happy with the way things are.
