Work From Home Opportunity - Is it All Hype?

My personal opinion is that most online money making websites are BS, but not all of them are. Many offer real information on how to go to work for yourself. Most people think that working online entails working for an employer, when in fact most of the money made online comes from your own motivation. A growing portion of the population is retiring from their every day job through a concept known as affiliate marketing.

What is affiliate marketing though? Well, I'll tell it is not a get rich quick scheme. It is not guaranteed to make money overnight. It does not require you to hold an inventory or handle any products. You do not directly sell anything. So what exactly is it? Affiliate marketing in its simplest form, is directing internet traffic to a website, and taking a commission from any sale that you lead there.

Now you may be saying right now "I don't know anything about building websites, or working the internet, or any of that!" Well if you knew, then you probably would not be browsing the internet looking for answers, would you? Well there are a lot of great training programs out there, but I'll get back to that.

The great part about affiliate marketing is that you do not have to spend a dime to get started. There are many free and low cost ways to generate traffic, send people back to your marketing partner, and get your commission.

1. Write articles - This is what you see in those "getting paid to type" ads all over the internet. There are a lot of great places to submit your articles and generate free traffic back to your site. (Like this one)

2. Blog - Blogging is not just for whiny teenagers to share their feelings or computer geeks to speak gibberish to each other. Blogs are excellent sources of information, and once you have a large following, you can direct readers to your affiliate sites. You can also add Google AdSense and make money when people click on ads in your blog.

3. Social Marketing - Yes I'm talking about Facebook, Twitter, all of that. All of these generate huge amounts of traffic to marketers every day that brings in a LOT of money.

Like I said, there are lots of ways to generate traffic. These are probably the top 3 free methods. However, the old motto "you get what you pay for" comes into effect. If you invest a small amount of money, you can increase the traffic you generate exponentially. If you don't want to spend money, yes you can search the internet endlessly for the information on making money online, spend hours and hours, and you may eventually put all the pieces together. Or you can invest a small amount of money in a training program that teaches you step by step, and saves you countless hours that you can be making real money from home.
