Work With Your Spouse's Sleeping Habits
Do you ever have arguments with your spouse about their sleeping habits
? I know a few couples that have resolved to sleep separately because of the arguments that would be started when they would go to bed at night. One couple sleeps in separate rooms and the other couple sleeps on different floors of the house. Whether it is snoring in the bedroom, a difference of opinion in room temperature or mattress firmness, wouldn't you think that these things are small enough not to matter so much that you would rather sleep alone than with your spouse? For anyone thinking that, you are sadly mistaken.
For me and my husband, we have our differences in sleeping habits, but luckily they have not pushed us apart from each other. I do know that there are some things I wish I could change about how we sleep though. For example, I take forever to fall asleep at night while my husband can fall asleep before I have even pulled up the covers. Why is this? I do not think it is fair at all and I really wish that there was something else I could do to try and change it. I have tried different sleeping positions in the past, but it seems like every time I move and get adjusted in a new position, I am completely wide awake and I have to try and relax my body all over again.
I have heard of different sleeping aids that can help couples sleep better with each other. There are nose strips that can be used to help subdue and hopefully lessen snoring in individuals so they breathe better at night and won't disturb their mate. If you and your spouse argue about the firmness of the bed, you may want to give adjustable beds a try. This way, each spouse has control over how firm or how soft their side of the bed will be. Why let something as small as how soft the mattress is divide you from your spouse every night of the week?
If you typically argue about room temperature, try to work with your spouse and accommodate their feelings.
Bundle up warmer if you spouse likes a cool room or if you spouse wants to sleep cooler feel free to hog all the covers that you want because they won't need to use them. Try to work with each other to find good solution that will make everyone happy with the end result.
