Working In A Copper Mine Requires The Best Work Boots Out There

My husband works as a lineman in an open pit copper mine

, and I would be willing to bet doughnuts on the fact that every guy working up there in that mine is concerned about having the best work boots available.

The haul trucks in the copper mine have tires that are twelve and a half feet tall. There are boom trucks, crushers, and all kinds of huge machinery of there that most people can't even fathom unless they have seen it for themselves.

With so much heavy duty equipment around, steel toed boots are really the only feasible option. Even with steel toes you would definitely want to stay out of the way of most of those monstrous machines.

Another issue working at the mine is that you are constantly up against the natural elements. It can be a nice day down in the valley and the workers in the mine could be facing a full out blizzard. Since my husband does repairs on power lines, he is spending most of his time outdoors. He needs to have boots that will keep his feet nice and toasty warm during the winter, not to mention some really thick wool socks.

On the contrary, during the summer he wears boots that still give his feet the protection that they need, but aren't quite so hot. You can only imagine that when it's over a hundred degrees and he's working out in the blistering sun, his feet don't need any help staying warm.

It's amazing how many styles of work boots there are. My husband can try on boot after boot after boot and take an hour to find the one that fits just right and is perfect for him.

One cool thing about the company that my husband works for is that every once in a while they have drawings where workers can win gift certificates that will allow them to get a new pair of boots.

You can only imagine how excited these guys get if they are able to win that drawing. New boots can be pricy, especially when you need some that are really great quality.

Until I met my husband the most experience I had with boots was having some cute little pink snow boots when I was a kid and then getting a few pairs of cheap hiking boots for when I went out to the mountains with my friends, but now I know that for some people having the best work boots out there is crucial to their well being.
