The nightlife of Chinas rapidly developing urban areas offers the ex-pat significant options for exploration and recreation, but if it is real adventure that is being sought then one needs to get out of the cities. There are thousands of historic sites and relics through China that can only be found with intrepid journeying. The Terracotta Warriors are well known, as is the Great Wall of China, but these are just the tips of the iceberg of Chinese history.

China is a culture with history that traces itself back millennia. To be able to participate in such a glorious culture with extremely deep historical roots is a privilege that the ex-pat should value highly. The exploration of the Chinese culture and the nuances of its food, fauna, and social fabric should be a major priority for ex-pats working in China. From still standing monuments to Chairman Mao back through history to Buddha statues from millennia ago and earlier, to stone ruins of buildings built before the birth of Christ, there is a wondrous array of sights for the ex-pat to enjoy while working in China.
